How the price of Market Price Electricity is determined?
First month: fixed energy price 6,99 c/kWh + basic fee €/month.
After that, the energy price follows the average monthly price of the Nord Pool electricity exchange for the Finnish market area (i.e. spot electricity). The energy price for the current month is determined at the end of the month. While the price of electricity fluctuates quarter hourly in the electricity exchange, with the Cheap Market Price Electricity contract, the price follows the monthly average, so the price remains the same.
The price of the Cheap Market Price Electricity contract consists of three parts:
- Average monthly price of spot electricity per kWh
- Margin per kWh
- Fixed monthly basic fee, which does not depend on the amount of electricity consumed
Example
In May 2026, the average monthly price of exchange electricity was 5,27 c/kWh. When adding a margin of 1,29
c/kWh, the fixed energy price for September under the Cheap Market Price Electricity
contract would be 6,56 c/kWh. Additionally, the monthly basic fee of €4,99
/month is included in the bill.
